In December 1939, glamorous newcomer Sabine Winters arrives in Hobart for the opening of the Wrest Point Riviera, hoping Tasmania will shelter her from the war in Europe and conceal her collection of stolen jewellery. Instead, she is blackmailed into espionage and sent into the political dangers of South America as Nazi influence grows. In February 1973, Jenny Davies attends the opening of the Wrest Point Hotel Casino and is invited to become one of its elite Ladybird croupiers. Her decision triggers events that threaten her future, until a mysterious letter and an unfamiliar relative's key connect her fate to secrets from the hotel's past.
