In the summer of 1944, Jill Metcalfe discovers that her brother Henry has died while pursuing a mission linked to a Nazi traitor. The man who brings the news, American airman Jack Strafford, asks her to help finish Henry’s work. They follow the clues in Henry’s cryptic last words to Larkwhistle in the New Forest, where a quiet village may conceal someone capable of changing the course of the war. Their questions provoke resistance, and a newly discovered body turns suspicion into immediate danger. Jill and Jack must work out which villagers they can trust, uncover what happened to Henry and identify the traitor before further lives are lost.
